crafting exceptional moments

A SALES PITCH OF BOREDOM TO PARENTS

I’ve been selling it for years in my own home.

Now it’s time I scale up and reach a larger audience – can I have a quick moment of your time?

I have a great solution to many of your daily needs.

Here’s how I made this amazing discovery.

I was 9 years old. The TV was off, there was no one else in the room. I remember noticing I was in a state that wasn’t familiar -- I understood this to be thinking but I had not been aware of this state like this before.

All sorts of thoughts began to take over my mind. Mostly about nothing, and something about everything.

Soon, I began to have more focus. Eventually, I was trying to solve a problem.

The problem was, I was bored.

Ideas replaced thoughts, and excitement began to build inside my body.

At this moment, I miraculously discovered that boredom is not uncomfortable.

About 6 minutes in, I was ready to make a move. I snuck 5 blankets from the closet to my backyard and strung up the most incredible fort from the top of our playset monkey bars.

I made a second amazing discovery, that boredom has big payoff.

I noticed a trend -- when I spent time being bored, I always received the payment of creativity.

From then on, I was a believer. I used boredom regularly to enhance my childhood and felt that every child deserves to be bored too.

The business model:

When you take a train, the cost is for the ticket (the ride) – not the destination (the fun place to be).

This is no different from the investment into boredom: boredom is the train (cost), and creativity is the destination (reward).

Boredom might feel like a bad venture initially, but in just a short period, the investment is invaluable.

Today as a parent, I try to use boredom routinely on my kids.

“I’m bored.” (Child in a sulky voice).

The quick fix (the competitor’s “derail approach”):

Hand them a phone, turn on the TV, “yes you can play your video game.” We solve the boredom problem for them.

The train door opens -- the journey is over and creativity remains as just a point on the map.

One of our greatest discomforts is watching someone we love suffer. Being aware of this discomfort is an important step for the first-time boredom buyer.

This feeling is normal – and importantly, it is not permanent. It is also part of the journey that cannot be avoided if you’re going to reach Destination Creativity.

Now, let’s see what happens when we use the NEW AND AMAZING Boredom Caboose!

“I’m bored.”

New response:

“Wonderful. It sounds like you’re on a great trip toward something fun.”

(Dagger eyes).

Do not despair! The Boredom Caboose is guaranteed to work - every single time.

With just a little patience, boredom will do its magic.

Remember folks, boredom is merely a small hump in the journey – a short-lived moment of discomfort. And we have the solution - your child’s own brain.

Simply give your child a moment to get over the hump and watch in amazement as they start solving the problem themselves - so easy!

“I’m going outside to play.”

You have reached your final destination.

Boredom works great in our home, and I’m 100% certain that it will work wonders in your home too.

In fact, I stand by this promise so confidently, that I’m prepared to give you a lifetime guarantee.

And get this! Not only will you get Boredom for each of your children, but parents will also receive unlimited access to Intentional Living!

That’s right – you too can benefit from avoiding the derailment of screen time and scrolling (insert ridiculous black and white clip here).

So go ahead, and give it a try.

Soon you’ll be telling your friends and neighbours to bring boredom more often into their homes too.

Happy travels, phone lines are now open.
